What helps while waiting for cancer test results?
Keeping busy is one of the most helpful things you can do while waiting for cancer test results, which can be a very stressful time.
Try scheduling time with friends or family members, or getting in touch with people you have not talked to in a while. You can also treat yourself to some self-care, such as exercise, meditation, a massage, a manicure, or anything else that takes your mind off the wait.
It also helps to know what services are available to you. Many of the same resources and people who supported you during treatment are still there for you now. Relaxation exercises, gentle movement, and writing your feelings down in a journal can ease worry too.
If the anxiety around scans and results feels like more than you can handle, let your care team know. They can talk through your concerns and, if it would help, refer you to a counselor or a support group.

Know someone who needs this?
Plenty of people are looking for something like this and do not know where to start. If this would help a friend or someone you love, send it on — we have written an opening line so you do not have to stare at an empty message. You can change every word of it.
Your message is written and sent in your own email or messaging app — we never see who you send it to, and nothing is added to any list.
